World’s Largest Cooling System Activated at Grand Mosque Ahead of 1446 Hajj Season

Makkah, The Gulf Observer: As part of comprehensive preparations for the 1446 Hajj season, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has officially activated the world’s largest cooling system, designed to provide an optimal environment for millions of pilgrims.

The advanced system boasts a total cooling capacity of 155,000 tons and is engineered to ensure moderate temperatures within the Grand Mosque complex, despite the intense summer heat typical of the Hajj season.

The system operates through two primary stations: the Al-Shamiya Station, which delivers a capacity of 120,000 tons, and the Ajyad Station, contributing an additional 35,000 tons. Together, they comprehensively cool all areas of the Grand Mosque, including recent expansions, maintaining indoor temperatures between 22°C and 24°C to enhance the comfort and well-being of worshippers.

In addition to its powerful cooling capabilities, the system incorporates cutting-edge purification technologies that remove up to 95% of airborne pollutants. This ensures clean and safe air for pilgrims throughout their spiritual journey.

The General Presidency, through the Haram Authority, is conducting proactive and continuous maintenance operations to guarantee system reliability. These efforts include the replacement of critical components, secure management of operational zones, and efficient allocation of resources to meet increased demand during the pilgrimage season.

This landmark initiative reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the Hajj experience, prioritising health, safety, and comfort for pilgrims from around the world.
