Montalban, The Gulf Observer: Chery Tiggo recovered from a first-set stumble to secure a hard-fought 20-25, 25-23, 25-12, 28-26 victory over Capital1 at the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour held at the Ynares Center in Montalban, Rizal, on Saturday night.
Rookie standout Baby Jyne Soreño, a left-handed hitter from De La Salle University, delivered an impressive performance with 15 points, consisting of 14 attacks and a block, stepping up in the absence of veteran star Ara Galang and national team libero Jen Nierva.
“It was nerve-wracking at the beginning, but eventually it eased up because our veteran players assured us they would handle the pressure. We just focused,” said Soreño, who was later named Best Player of the Game following the two-hour, three-minute encounter.
