President Aliyev Applauds National Wrestling Teams for European Championship Victory
Baku, The Gulf Observer: President Ilham Aliyev received members of Azerbaijan’s national wrestling teams on April 30 following their outstanding performance at the European Wrestling Championships held in Tirana, Albania.
The reception brought together Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestlers who secured European championship titles in the team standings, as well as medal-winning athletes from the women’s wrestling team. Coaches and support staff accompanying the athletes were also present at the meeting.
President Aliyev congratulated the wrestlers on their remarkable achievements, praising their dedication, discipline, and contribution to enhancing Azerbaijan’s reputation in international sports. He highlighted the significance of their success as a source of national pride and an inspiration for the country’s youth.
The European Championships, hosted in Tirana, witnessed strong performances by Azerbaijani athletes across multiple categories, reaffirming the nation’s prominent standing in the sport of wrestling.
