President Aliyev, U.S. Congressman Abraham Hamadeh Discuss Expanding Azerbaijan–US Strategic Partnership

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday received Abraham Hamadeh, a member of the United States House of Representatives, to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments, and prospects for strengthening the Azerbaijan–US strategic partnership.
During the meeting, President Aliyev highlighted the positive trajectory of Azerbaijan–US relations following the return of President Donald Trump for a second term, emphasizing the strong level of his personal relations with the US leader. He recalled with satisfaction his visits to the United States, meetings with President Trump, and the visit of US Vice President J.D. Vance to Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani president described the signing of the Charter on Strategic Partnership between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States of America as a historic milestone in advancing bilateral cooperation.
The discussion also underscored Congressman Hamadeh’s role as a co-author of legislation introduced in the US Congress seeking the repeal of Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act. President Aliyev expressed confidence that the congressman’s visit would contribute to further strengthening ties between the two countries.
For his part, Hamadeh said he was pleased to be visiting Azerbaijan and praised the country’s strategically important geographic location. He also noted Azerbaijan’s successful hosting of major international sporting events, including UFC competitions and Formula 1 races.
Both sides reviewed ongoing efforts by the leaders of Azerbaijan and the United States to deepen their strategic partnership and reaffirmed the importance they attach to the continued development of bilateral relations.
The meeting also addressed regional issues, including the role of President Trump in promoting the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The participants discussed opportunities arising from the TRIPP corridor initiative and its potential to enhance regional transport connectivity.
In addition, President Aliyev and Congressman Hamadeh exchanged views on strengthening dialogue between Azerbaijan and the US Congress. They noted significant opportunities for expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, security, transport connectivity, technology, and other key sectors, while discussing the future prospects of the Azerbaijan–US partnership.
