President Ilham Aliyev: ACG, Shahdeniz, and Absheron Fields Ensure Energy Security for Numerous Countries

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President Ilham Aliyev reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s vital contribution to international energy security during his address at the 11th Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting and the 3rd Green Energy Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting held in Baku.

In his remarks, President Aliyev emphasized the strategic importance of key Azerbaijani energy fields in meeting global demand. “Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli, Shahdeniz, and Absheron provide energy security for many countries,” he stated, underlining Azerbaijan’s role as a reliable energy partner.

The head of state also pointed to future developments in the sector, announcing that several new oil and gas fields are expected to become operational in the coming years. “Contracts have been signed, and the working program has been approved,” he said, noting the ongoing commitment to expanding production capabilities.

Highlighting the importance of multilateral cooperation in infrastructure development, President Aliyev credited international collaboration for the successful implementation of major energy transportation routes. “The construction of pipelines – such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Jeyhan and Baku-Supsa oil pipelines, and the Southern Gas Corridor – was carried out in cooperation by all the actors,” he said.

The Southern Gas Corridor, which delivers Caspian gas to European markets, has become a cornerstone of regional energy cooperation, while Azerbaijan’s growing investments in green energy reflect its strategic vision for a diversified and sustainable energy future.

The back-to-back ministerial meetings in Baku brought together high-level representatives from partner countries and institutions, reinforcing Azerbaijan’s central role in shaping the evolving landscape of energy security and transition in the wider region.
