President Ilham Aliyev Inspects Restoration Work in Shusha’s Boyuk Galaderesi Village

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on May 28 inspected the ongoing restoration of homes and infrastructure in Boyuk Galaderesi village of the Shusha District and met with residents who have returned to the village.

During the visit, the Special Representative of the President in the Shusha district, Aydin Karimov, briefed President Aliyev on reconstruction efforts, including the restoration of residential houses and development of essential infrastructure.

Boyuk Galaderesi village, located within the Galaderesi administrative territorial district of Shusha, was occupied by Armenian armed forces in 1992 and was later liberated in 2023 during anti-terror operations conducted by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan.

Officials informed the president that several projects have been implemented to improve living conditions and address social needs in the village.

Infrastructure works completed so far include the installation of a transformer, construction of new electricity lines, restoration of existing power networks, and installation of utility meters in houses designated for the first stage of resettlement.

Authorities also laid a new gas pipeline in the village and began installing gas meters for residents. Drinking water infrastructure has been developed through the installation of distribution pipelines and water meters, while communication lines are currently being established.

In addition, internal village roads have been renovated, a recreational park has been constructed for residents, and a Flag Square has been established in the village.

According to officials, Boyuk Galaderesi has a total of 50 individual houses, of which 13 are considered unusable while 37 remain partially usable.

As part of the first phase of reconstruction, 17 houses have already been restored, while restoration work on another 20 houses is planned during the next phase.

Initially, 64 residents from 14 families have returned to the village as part of Azerbaijan’s broader resettlement and reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories.
