President Ilham Aliyev Receives Secretary-General of Muslim Council of Elders

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, in Baku on September 14.

During the meeting, the sides recalled with appreciation their previous encounters and expressed satisfaction with the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Muslim Council of Elders.

The discussions highlighted Azerbaijan’s important role in promoting and strengthening Islamic solidarity at the global level. The participants also emphasised the significance of the 7th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States, which is being held in Baku.

Particular attention was also drawn to the upcoming Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, scheduled to be hosted by Azerbaijan next year. The sides noted the importance of the summit in further strengthening cooperation and solidarity among Muslim countries.

The meeting also highlighted Azerbaijan’s effective approach to the management of religious affairs.

The sides further referred to the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, which was presented to President Ilham Aliyev earlier this year in recognition of his contributions to promoting human fraternity and dialogue.

During the meeting, Mohamed Abdelsalam presented the official certificate of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity to President Ilham Aliyev.
