President Ilham Aliyev Says Zangilan to Become Key Regional Transport Hub

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has announced plans to transform Zangilan into a major regional transport hub, highlighting its strategic location along an important transport corridor.

Speaking during a meeting with residents in the city of Zangilan, President Aliyev said the government is undertaking extensive infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and economic integration.

“Zangilan is situated along a vital transport corridor. We will transform Zangilan into a transport hub, not only for Azerbaijan but for the entire region,” the Azerbaijani leader stated.

The President revealed that construction of a new railway line is currently underway and expressed confidence that rail travel from Baku to Zangilan would become operational within the next year to year and a half.

He noted that citizens are already able to travel by rail to Aghdam, adding that train services to Khankendi are expected to begin next year.

President Ilham Aliyev further emphasized that the railway project will eventually extend to Nakhchivan through the Zangezur Corridor, significantly enhancing transportation links and trade opportunities across the wider South Caucasus region.
