President Prabowo Pledges Nationwide Renovation of Public Health Centers

President Prabowo

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto pledged to repair all public health centers nationwide after visiting Miangas Island, Indonesia’s northernmost outpost, highlighting gaps in basic healthcare infrastructure in remote areas.

During the visit, Prabowo said he inspected local facilities, including a puskesmas that had reportedly not been renovated for decades.

“I saw the puskesmas here, and was told it has not been repaired since the Soeharto era,” he said, according to a Presidential Secretariat broadcast on Saturday.

“We will repair all puskesmas across Indonesia immediately,” he added.

He said upgrading health facilities would be a priority to ensure access to proper services nationwide, including in remote and outermost regions.

Prabowo said the visit gave him a clearer picture of infrastructure needs in underserved areas.

“I am grateful to see the conditions directly, and we hope renovations can begin soon,” he said.

He said the visit underscored the government’s commitment to more equitable development across the country.

At the same event, Prabowo also pledged to revitalize schools on Miangas Island.

He said the plan includes providing interactive panels, internet access and communication equipment.

The president also promised to develop a “Red and White Fishing Village,” including new boats and cold storage facilities for local fishermen.
