President Sheikh Mohamed Discusses UAE-EU Cooperation with Ursula von der Leyen in Phone Talks
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: In a telephone call today, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan engaged in discussions with Her Excellency Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, focusing on various dimensions of collaboration between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the European Union (EU), with an emphasis on reinforcing these ties for the mutual benefit of both parties.
The leaders conducted a comprehensive review of matters of mutual interest, with particular attention to ongoing developments in the Middle East and the deepening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. They underscored the significance of a recent joint initiative involving the UAE, Cyprus, the European Commission, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This initiative aims to activate a maritime corridor dedicated to delivering essential humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, addressing the critical needs of its residents. The leaders stressed the necessity of aligning and integrating this initiative with other endeavors, working towards providing ample and sustainable assistance to the people of Gaza.
President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to collaborating with various stakeholders, including the European Commission, to ensure the efficient delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, acknowledging the urgent and collective action required to address the challenging humanitarian situation faced by its people.
Emphasizing the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed urged the prevention of further escalation in the region. He reiterated the UAE’s dedication to advancing a fair and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
