President Zardari, Iranian FM Araghchi Discuss Regional Tensions and Bilateral Cooperation

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday received the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, where both sides discussed matters of bilateral interest, regional security, and the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent Pahalgam incident.
Welcoming the Iranian foreign minister, President Zardari highlighted the historic, fraternal relations between Pakistan and Iran, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration to promote regional peace, stability, and prosperity. He underscored the need for both nations to work closely in addressing shared challenges and reinforcing mutual trust.
Foreign Minister Araghchi conveyed that his visit was undertaken under the guidance of the Supreme Leader Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian. Expressing Iran’s deep understanding of Pakistan’s stance on the current regional situation, he called for restraint and de-escalation to prevent further deterioration of peace in South Asia.
He reaffirmed Iran’s strong commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Pakistan across multiple spheres and emphasized the potential for expanded trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. The Iranian foreign minister also discussed the evolving situation in Afghanistan and assured Iran’s willingness to coordinate with Pakistan on regional matters of mutual concern.
President Zardari expressed appreciation for the timely visit by the Iranian foreign minister, noting its significance amid growing regional instability. He reiterated Pakistan’s firm belief in dialogue and diplomacy, while voicing serious concern over India’s aggressive posture, which he warned could jeopardize regional peace and security.
Both leaders also exchanged views on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, strongly condemning the ongoing atrocities and grave human rights violations being committed by Israeli forces in Gaza and the West Bank. They reiterated their countries’ shared stance on the urgent need to halt the violence and protect innocent civilians.
Foreign Minister Araghchi conveyed the warm wishes of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to President Asif Ali Zardari, reaffirming Tehran’s desire to deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation with Islamabad.
The meeting reflected the shared commitment of both countries to advancing regional stability and strengthening their longstanding partnership.
