Romania Aims to Elevate Partnership with Viet Nam

Bucharest, The Gulf Observer: In a joint press conference held in Bucharest, Romanian Prime Minister Ion-Marcel Ciolacu expressed Romania’s ambition to position itself as the “main partner” of Viet Nam, serving as a gateway for Vietnamese goods and products into Europe.
The announcement came as a highlight during the official talks led by PM Ciolacu and his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh, forming a key part of PM Chính’s ongoing visit to Romania.
The leaders declared the talks a success, outlining their joint commitment to fostering cooperation in bilateral relations while also addressing regional and international issues of shared concern.
Celebrating the nearly 75-year diplomatic journey between Viet Nam and Romania, both parties expressed a positive evaluation of their enduring friendship and multifaceted cooperation. The Romanian PM emphasized his country’s readiness to enhance infrastructure for collaboration with Vietnamese ports, with a focus on promoting transport growth. The goal is to double trade exchanges to EUR€1 billion in the coming years.
Furthermore, PM Ciolacu extended an invitation for major Romanian companies in the gas and electricity sectors to forge partnerships with Vietnamese counterparts. Identifying agriculture and the pharmaceutical industry as strategic cooperation areas, he proposed initiating pilot projects in aquaculture, leveraging Viet Nam’s considerable expertise in this field.
Expressing gratitude for Viet Nam’s donation of 10,000 doses of African swine fever vaccine during the visit, PM Ciolacu conveyed a desire for continued cooperation in technology transfer and investment to produce this vaccine for the European market.
In the realm of education, the Romanian PM affirmed their commitment to maintaining a significant number of Vietnamese students in Romanian universities under training programs. The joint press conference unveiled a shared vision for a strengthened partnership, reflecting the commitment of both nations to deepening ties across various sectors.
