Russia Launches Drone and Missile Barrage on Ukraine

Kyiv, The Gulf Observer: A Russian barrage of drones and missiles on Ukraine has resulted in the deaths of at least four civilians, with significant damage to residential buildings and infrastructure across the country.
On Saturday, Ukraine’s Interior Ministry reported that a Russian missile struck a residential building in the central city of Poltava, killing three people and injuring ten others, including a child. Emergency response teams, including fire brigades and dozens of rescuers, were seen sifting through the rubble, as images posted to the Telegram messaging app showed the building’s upper floors devastated, with thick columns of smoke rising into the air.
In the northeastern city of Kharkiv, a drone attack claimed the life of one individual and left four others wounded, according to the city’s mayor.
Additionally, the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia suffered damage to buildings due to the attack. Ukrainian air defense systems successfully repelled some of the assaults aimed at the capital, Kyiv, although no major damage or casualties were reported there.
Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets condemned the ongoing attacks, stating on Telegram that Russia’s daily assaults on Ukraine signify the aggressor’s continued disregard for international law. “Russia shelled Ukraine again last night and this morning, targeting civilian infrastructure: residential buildings, educational institutions, and cars,” Lubinets said.
Meanwhile, Russia’s defense ministry reported the capture of the village of Krymske in Ukraine’s Donetsk region. The ministry further claimed that its forces had launched strikes on Ukraine’s gas and energy infrastructure, and shot down 108 Ukrainian drones in the past 24 hours.
The escalation of violence underscores the continued toll of the war on civilians and critical infrastructure, with no end in sight to the conflict.
