Samarkand Hosts ICAO International Seminar on CORSIA Implementation

Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: Samarkand recently hosted the International Seminar on implementing the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The event brought together aviation experts, policymakers, and industry leaders from more than 30 countries to discuss carbon reduction strategies for the aviation sector.

Participants included employees of the Uzaviation Agency, major airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and aviation fuel producers. Key industry representatives in attendance were specialists from GTL Uzbekistan, Airbus, Boeing, Uzbekistan Airports, Uzbekistan Airways, Qanot Sharq, Samarqand Airways, Azerbaijan Airlines, Tassili Airlines, Silk Way West Airlines, and QAZAQ AIR JSC. These stakeholders discussed sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) development and shared insights on adopting CORSIA to reduce carbon emissions.

ICAO, a specialized United Nations agency established in 1944, fosters international cooperation in civil aviation, helping 193 member states realize a global air mobility network. Through its initiatives like CORSIA, ICAO promotes sustainable aviation growth, connecting cultures, families, and businesses worldwide while advancing socio-economic prosperity.

The seminar underscored ICAO’s commitment to ensuring environmental sustainability in the aviation sector, focusing on the future of global air transport and aligning with international efforts to combat climate change.
