Samarkand International Airport Ranks Second in Prestigious ACI Europe Ranking

Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: Samarkand International Airport has secured a significant milestone by taking second place in the esteemed Airports Council International Europe (ACI Europe) ranking among airports designed to handle 1 to 10 million passengers annually.
According to ACI Europe, Samarkand Airport experienced an impressive 186% increase in passenger traffic compared to 2019, highlighting the rapid growth of the aviation industry in Uzbekistan. This remarkable achievement underscores not only the airport’s continuous development but also the growing interest of global travelers in the historical city of Samarkand.
In 2024, the airport achieved a record-breaking milestone by handling over 1.38 million passengers, a 37% increase over the previous year’s record. This marks the highest passenger traffic volume in the airport’s history, reflecting its increasing prominence on the international aviation map.
Samarkand International Airport, operated by Air Marakanda, currently collaborates with 17 airlines and offers flights to 18 destinations, with 16 international and 2 domestic routes, further enhancing its connectivity and service offerings to passengers worldwide.
