Tajik Agricultural University Trains Specialists in 55 Agricultural Disciplines
Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Tajikistan’s Shirinsho Shotemur Tajik Agrarian University is training specialists in 55 agricultural disciplines and is taking comprehensive measures to strengthen the connection between scientific research and agricultural production, the university’s rector, Usmon Mahmadyozoda, said during a press conference.
Responding to a question from a Khovar correspondent on the university’s efforts to prepare highly qualified agricultural professionals and enhance the role of science in production development, Mahmadyozoda stated that the university has established cooperation agreements between its specialized department branches and leading farms and institutions to further integrate science with practical production activities.
He noted that university students undergo annual industrial and educational internships at these branch facilities, where all necessary working and living conditions are provided for trainees. During the internships, students apply their theoretical knowledge in practice, improve their professional skills, and gain valuable hands-on experience that helps prepare them to become qualified specialists capable of making a meaningful contribution to agricultural production.
The rector also said that greater attention is being directed toward modernizing educational programs, including the development of digital agriculture, training in water-saving irrigation methods such as drip irrigation, soil protection, strengthening practical instruction, cultivating climate-resilient and high-yield crop varieties, and expanding studies in agricultural economics and related fields.
During the press conference, it was further announced that the Tajik Agrarian University has signed contracts and cooperation agreements with 130 foreign organizations and higher educational institutions from both neighboring and distant countries. In addition, the university has concluded memorandums of understanding with 40 foreign higher education institutions, reflecting its expanding international academic and scientific cooperation.
