Tajikistan, AIIB Sign Long-Term Investment Plan Worth Over $800 Million

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held talks with President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Zhou Jiayi, in Beijing on May 11 to discuss the current state of cooperation and future prospects for expanding bilateral partnership.
During the meeting, President Rahmon highly appreciated the bank’s contribution to the implementation of major infrastructure projects in Tajikistan and expressed gratitude for its continued support towards the country’s sustainable development goals.
The discussions focused extensively on expanding cooperation in key infrastructure sectors, including energy, transport, road construction, water supply, digital technologies, green development initiatives, and agriculture.
Officials noted that several significant infrastructure projects are currently underway in Tajikistan with financing support amounting to approximately US$400 million from the AIIB.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Tajikistan and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank signed a Long-Term Investment Plan aimed at further strengthening economic and infrastructure cooperation. Under the agreement, the bank plans to allocate more than US$800 million for future development projects in Tajikistan.
The agreement is expected to support the country’s efforts to modernise infrastructure, enhance regional connectivity, and accelerate sustainable economic growth.
