Turkish and Saudi Foreign Ministers Meet in Riyadh to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, held a meeting in Riyadh on Tuesday, according to a statement from Fidan’s office on X.

Though no further details have been disclosed regarding the discussions, the meeting highlights the growing political relations between the two countries. Fidan, who is currently visiting Saudi Arabia, is expected to focus on enhancing bilateral trade, which has seen significant expansion in recent years.

In addition, Fidan is anticipated to discuss the international community’s increasing engagement with Syria’s new administration, commending Saudi Arabia’s constructive approach. He is also expected to advocate for the lifting of sanctions on Syria to support its recovery following nearly 14 years of civil war.

The two ministers have previously met, with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan visiting Türkiye in July 2024. Earlier this month, Fidan also visited Riyadh to participate in a multilateral meeting on Syria, where he had discussions with Minister Al Saud.
