Türkiye Successfully Recovers 10 Smuggled Terracotta Artefacts from Italy

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: In a significant achievement for cultural heritage preservation, Türkiye has successfully repatriated 10 historical terracotta artefacts that were unlawfully smuggled out of the country. The announcement was made by Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy on Wednesday.

Minister Ersoy expressed Türkiye’s ongoing commitment to retrieving artefacts that rightfully belong to its cultural heritage. He conveyed gratitude to the Italian Cultural Police in Florence for their cooperation and efficient action in recovering the smuggled terracotta artefacts.

“We continue to bring back the artefacts smuggled from our country to the lands where they belong,” stated Minister Ersoy. He further acknowledged the collaborative efforts of Türkiye’s team and Ambassador Omer Gucuk in Rome for their meticulous follow-up, ensuring the successful repatriation of the historical treasures.

The repatriation of these artefacts reflects Türkiye’s dedication to preserving its rich cultural heritage and underscores the importance of international cooperation in combating illicit trafficking of cultural property.
