Turkmen Foreign Minister Meets Outgoing U.S. Ambassador

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Turkmenistan, Elizabeth Rood, on July 18, 2026, as she concludes her diplomatic mission in the country.
During the meeting, both sides welcomed the positive momentum in Turkmenistan–United States relations in recent years, emphasizing that high-level contacts and official visits have played a significant role in strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The discussions focused on the current state of cooperation between the two countries and explored prospects for expanding collaboration in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian fields.
Minister Meredov expressed appreciation for Ambassador Rood’s contribution to enhancing the partnership between Turkmenistan and the United States during her tenure. He thanked her for her efforts in promoting constructive bilateral relations and wished her continued success in her future professional endeavors.
For her part, Ambassador Rood conveyed her sincere gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for the support and cooperation extended to her throughout her diplomatic service in the country.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining the positive trajectory of Turkmenistan–U.S. relations and further strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
