Turkmen Honor Guard Battalion to Participate in 2025 Victory Day Parade in Moscow

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: The Honor Guard Battalion of Turkmenistan will proudly take part in the Victory Day Parade on May 9, 2025, on Moscow’s Red Square, reaffirming the country’s commitment to preserving the memory of the historic victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945. The announcement was made by Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ivan Volynkin in an interview with Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.
According to the ambassador, the participation of Turkmenistan’s military unit in the 2025 parade will continue a long-standing tradition, following previous appearances in the commemorative parades of 2010 and 2020. This symbolic gesture reflects the enduring ties between Turkmenistan and Russia, as well as their shared reverence for the sacrifices made during the war.
In Turkmenistan, Victory Day is commemorated annually at the official level with a series of nationwide events. Cultural and educational programs—including concerts, thematic exhibitions, film screenings, and public lectures—are organized in Ashgabat and other cities to honor the legacy of wartime heroes.
The central commemorative event is the solemn flower-laying ceremony at the Baky Şöhrat (Eternal Glory) monument located within the Halk hakydasy (People’s Memory) Memorial Complex. This ceremony is attended each year by the country’s leadership, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives of the public.
As part of state traditions, Turkmenistan continues to offer material support and appreciation to surviving veterans, who receive financial assistance and commemorative gifts in recognition of their service.
In 2024, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan attended the Victory Day Parade in Moscow as an honorary guest, marking the 79th anniversary of the Allied victory in World War II. His presence underscored the importance Turkmenistan attaches to historical remembrance and regional solidarity.
The upcoming participation of the Turkmen Honor Guard in Moscow’s 2025 parade will further highlight the country’s dedication to international cooperation and the honoring of wartime valor.
