Turkmenistan Establishes Jubilee Medal to Mark 35th Anniversary of Independence

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed a law establishing a special jubilee medal to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence, underscoring the country’s preparations for the landmark national celebration in 2026.
The newly established state award, titled “Türkmenistanyň Garaşsyzlygynyň 35 ýyllygyna bagyşlanyp geçirilen dabaraly harby ýörişe gatnaşyja” (“Participant of the Ceremonial Military Parade Dedicated to the 35th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence”), will be presented to individuals taking part in the commemorative military parade organized in honor of the anniversary.
The law was signed during a Cabinet meeting chaired by President Berdimuhamedov and is intended to ensure that celebrations marking the country’s 35 years of independence are conducted at the highest level. The jubilee medal forms part of Turkmenistan’s long-standing tradition of recognizing distinguished participants in major national anniversary events through commemorative state awards.
Turkmenistan is scheduled to celebrate the 35th anniversary of its independence in September 2026 with a series of nationwide events, including official ceremonies, cultural activities, and a grand military parade in the capital, Ashgabat. The anniversary is expected to highlight the country’s achievements in state-building, economic development, and national sovereignty over the past three and a half decades.
