Eid al-Adha

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan has begun nationwide celebrations of the sacred Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayram), with the participation of National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

The festivities commenced early in the morning with a special Eid prayer held at the Turkmenbashi Ruhy Mosque in Kipchak. Large numbers of worshippers gathered to offer prayers for the prosperity of the country, unity, and the well-being of the Turkmen people.

Following the prayer ceremony, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow visited the mausoleum of Turkmenistan’s first president, Saparmurat Niyazov, located adjacent to the mosque. Floral tributes were laid in honor of the late leader, while the Mufti of Turkmenistan conducted memorial prayers beneath the mausoleum’s dome.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty later traveled to the state city of Arkadag, where he reviewed ongoing construction work on a new city mosque. Particular attention was paid to the quality of construction and the architectural design of the religious complex.

As part of the Eid celebrations, a festive charity meal known as “sadaqa-kurbanlyk” was hosted on behalf of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty at the “Markaw” cultural and entertainment center.

Before the meal, the country’s Mufti recited verses from the Holy Quran and offered prayers for the acceptance of sacrifices and charitable offerings made during the blessed days of Eid al-Adha, as well as for the continued prosperity and development of Turkmenistan.

Participants at the gathering expressed appreciation for the leadership’s continued efforts to preserve and promote the nation’s spiritual, moral, and cultural traditions inherited from their ancestors.
