Turkmenistan, Russia Discuss Bilateral Cooperation, Strengthening Interparliamentary Ties

Turkmenbashi, The Gulf Observer: National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko at the Avaza National Tourist Zone in Turkmenbashi, Balkan Velayat.

Valentina Matviyenko arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the International Women’s Dialogue “The Role of Women in Maintaining Peace and Achieving Sustainable Development.”

During the meeting, Matviyenko expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and congratulated Turkmenistan’s leadership on the organization of large-scale international events in the country. She also conveyed warm greetings and best wishes for success and well-being to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed appreciation for the greetings and conveyed his best wishes to President Putin. He also thanked Matviyenko for accepting the invitation to participate in the international events being held in Turkmenistan.

The sides noted that relations between Turkmenistan and Russia are developing harmoniously across a wide range of areas. The two countries continue to expand constructive cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States and other international organizations.

Particular attention was paid to the significance of the International Women’s Dialogue, which, according to the participants, reflects Turkmenistan’s recognition of the important role and contribution of women to peace and sustainable development.

Matviyenko also highlighted the contribution of O. Atabaeva, Vice President of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charity Fund for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, to the organization of international events dedicated to women.

The meeting also reviewed the development of political and economic relations, including cooperation between ministries and government agencies of the two countries. The sides emphasized the importance of interparliamentary cooperation as an effective mechanism for exchanging experience and maintaining constructive dialogue between the legislative bodies of Turkmenistan and Russia.

The participants further noted that bilateral cooperation in education and science has reached a qualitatively new level, expressing confidence that the international events being held on the Caspian Sea coast would give additional impetus to the further expansion of productive bilateral relations.

The sides wished success to the International Women’s Dialogue “The Role of Women in Maintaining Peace and Achieving Sustainable Development.”

At the conclusion of the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Valentina Matviyenko wished each other good health and success in their state activities, while expressing wishes for continued prosperity and well-being for the peoples of Turkmenistan and Russia.

Following the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proceeded to the International Airport of Turkmenbashi and departed for Ashgabat.
