UAE and Pakistan Convene Second Joint Consular Committee Session to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan held the second session of the Joint Consular Committee in Islamabad, underscoring their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation across a wide array of consular services.
The session was co-chaired by Faisal Eissa Lutfi, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Shehryar Akbar Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary for the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
During the meeting, both delegations engaged in constructive discussions on improving consular coordination, reviewing follow-up mechanisms, and exploring joint initiatives to enhance service delivery for their citizens. Emphasis was placed on the importance of providing efficient, responsive, and citizen-centric consular services that cater to the evolving needs of both the UAE and Pakistani communities.
In his address, Faisal Lutfi highlighted the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. He described the MoU as a key milestone in bilateral consular cooperation, aligned with the directives of the UAE’s leadership to foster stronger ties with friendly and brotherly nations.
Lutfi stated that the establishment of the Joint Consular Committee is part of a broader vision to enhance the quality, inclusivity, and effectiveness of consular services, which are vital for safeguarding the rights and interests of citizens, promoting sustainable development goals, and contributing to mutual prosperity.
He further noted that the UAE-Pakistan partnership is rooted in decades of mutual respect, shared values, and strategic cooperation across political, economic, social, and consular domains. The committee’s work, he said, is emblematic of both nations’ determination to build on this strong foundation and deepen collaboration in ways that directly benefit their people.
The session concluded with a renewed commitment to regular consultations, continuous improvement in service provision, and the strengthening of people-to-people ties—a core pillar of the enduring and dynamic UAE-Pakistan relationship.
