UAE and Ukraine Discuss Strengthening Cooperation During President Zelenskyy’s Official Visit
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today extended a warm welcome to His Excellency Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, who is on an official visit to the UAE.
The two leaders met at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, where His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed expressed his hopes that President Zelenskyy’s visit would further strengthen bilateral relations across various sectors. His Highness also conveyed his best wishes for Ukraine’s stability and prosperity.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as the economy, investment, development, renewable energy, and food security, all of which align with the developmental priorities of both nations. His Highness reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to fostering international partnerships aimed at achieving shared progress and prosperity.
During the meeting, His Highness emphasized the UAE’s consistent approach of supporting peaceful resolutions to global crises. He underscored that development can only be achieved in a stable environment and reiterated the UAE’s dedication to supporting efforts for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He also reaffirmed the UAE’s ongoing initiatives to mitigate the humanitarian impact of the conflict.
His Highness expressed his gratitude to President Zelenskyy for Ukraine’s cooperation in supporting the UAE’s mediation efforts in the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. This collaboration, His Highness noted, reflects Ukraine’s confidence in the UAE’s role in alleviating the humanitarian consequences of the conflict.
President Zelenskyy reciprocated the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian efforts, emphasizing Ukraine’s dedication to enhancing bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors. He also thanked His Highness for the UAE’s continued diplomatic initiatives in facilitating prisoner exchanges and its humanitarian focus on the ongoing crisis.
Following the meeting, His Highness hosted a luncheon in honor of President Zelenskyy and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting was attended by several key UAE officials, including H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser; H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President, among others.
