UAE Concludes Successful Participation at 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos

Davos, The Gulf Observer: The UAE concluded its impactful participation at the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, held from January 20 to 24. Led by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the UAE delegation made significant contributions to the forum’s theme, “Collaboration in an Intelligent Age.”

The UAE delegation, one of the largest at Davos this year, included over 100 CEOs, private sector representatives, and government officials, highlighting the nation’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and advancing sustainable development.

Her Highness Sheikha Latifa participated in key discussions and engaged with global leaders, including Nobel Laureate and Interim Prime Minister of Bangladesh Professor Muhammad Yunus, former Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, and Hilde Schwab, Co-Founder and Chairperson of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. She also explored exhibitions showcasing the intersection of art, culture, and technology, emphasizing the role of creativity in addressing global challenges.

Commitment to Global Development and Collaboration

Mohammed Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, emphasized the nation’s dedication to sustainable growth and international collaboration. “Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s successful participation at the World Economic Forum reinforced its commitment to building strong international partnerships and fostering sustainable development,” said Al Gergawi.

He added, “The growing presence of UAE companies at Davos demonstrates their integral role in achieving national goals while highlighting the UAE’s supportive business environment.”

The UAE government’s advocacy for its private sector was evident as national and private sector companies formed the majority of the delegation, underscoring their role in driving the nation’s economic growth and fostering valuable international partnerships.

Strategic Partnerships and Milestones

During the forum, several landmark agreements were signed, including:

  1. Global Regulatory Innovation Platform (GRIP):
    The UAE and WEF signed an MoU to establish GRIP, which will develop a Future-Readiness Index for Legislation and a Global Guide for Regulatory Innovation. This initiative will build legislative capacity, promote dialogue, and enhance the UAE’s position as a regulatory hub.
  2. Future Technologies and Innovation:
    A partnership agreement was signed to promote the global adoption of advanced technologies through the UAE’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (UAE C4IR). This collaboration aims to foster innovation and position the UAE as a global leader in Fourth Industrial Revolution advancements.
  3. Future Readiness Index:
    The Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) partnered with WEF to create a global index assessing the future readiness of organizations. Drawing from the DFF’s expertise in developing the Dubai Future Readiness Index, the initiative will measure adaptability and the ability to leverage emerging opportunities.
  4. Advancing Global Health:
    The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) signed a letter of intent with WEF to accelerate the development of smart health systems. This initiative will leverage AI, data, and digital technologies to improve healthcare outcomes, aligning global advancements with local strategies.

Humanitarian Initiatives

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) announced a pledge of AED 36.7 million (USD 10 million) to the UNHCR to support sustainable programs for displaced communities. This brings MBRGI’s total contributions to AED 163.6 million since 2021, reflecting its commitment to addressing global humanitarian challenges.
