UAE, Kenya Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

London, The Gulf Observer: Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, held a meeting with Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya, to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation across multiple sectors.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the London Sudan Conference, a high-level forum aimed at galvanizing international support for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
During their talks, Nusseibeh and Mudavadi explored opportunities to expand UAE-Kenya ties, with a particular focus on enhancing people-to-people connections and sectoral collaboration. Both parties reiterated their shared commitment to developing mutually beneficial partnerships that contribute to regional stability and prosperity.
The two sides also exchanged views on the protracted crisis in Sudan and reviewed ongoing regional and international efforts aimed at achieving a political settlement. They underscored the importance of constructive engagement with African partners, notably the African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), in fostering a durable solution to the conflict.
“The UAE stressed again the essential role of the African Union to help bring about a ceasefire in Sudan between the warring parties and a transition to an independent civilian-led government,” said Nusseibeh, highlighting the UAE’s consistent advocacy for African-led solutions to regional crises.
She also underlined the critical role of multilateral institutions, particularly the United Nations, in addressing the humanitarian dimensions of conflicts. Nusseibeh called for stronger international condemnation of the weaponisation of humanitarian aid, emphasizing the need to protect vulnerable populations and ensure unfettered access to life-saving assistance.
From the UAE side, the meeting was also attended by Mansour Belhoul, the UAE Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
The UAE and Kenya continue to enjoy a robust and growing partnership, underpinned by shared strategic interests and a commitment to fostering peace and development across the African continent.
