UAE Launches First Emirates Agriculture Conference and Exhibition in Al Ain

Al Ain, The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, alongside His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region, attended the inauguration of the first edition of the Emirates Agriculture Conference and Exhibition, which commenced at the ADNEC Centre Al Ain on May 28. The event, organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, runs until May 31, and showcases the UAE’s commitment to advancing its agricultural sector.
The distinguished guests toured the exhibition, exploring the latest innovations in smart and vertical farming, as well as cutting-edge technologies aimed at enhancing the efficiency of local agricultural production. A key highlight of their visit was the National Agricultural Museum, which offers a detailed look at the UAE’s agricultural evolution and vision for a sustainable future in the sector.
The exhibition also featured a wide range of exhibits from national companies and specialized farms, focusing on groundbreaking solutions designed to address climate challenges specific to the UAE’s desert environment. Among the key zones visited were the “Youth Zone,” aimed at empowering young innovators, and the “Agritech Zone,” showcasing advanced agricultural practices and smart solutions.
H.H. Sheikh Mansour emphasized the profound significance of the event, which reflects the UAE’s holistic vision for agricultural development. He noted that empowering Emirati farmers is a strategic priority to boost local production, enhance self-sufficiency, and fuel the national economy. “Investing in modern technologies for Emirati farmers ensures the long-term sustainability of this critical sector,” His Highness affirmed.
H.H. Sheikh Hazza underscored the importance of the event in reinforcing Al Ain’s pivotal role in the national agricultural landscape. He called for continued collaboration between the public and private sectors to invest in smart agricultural technologies and expand local agricultural output, in alignment with the National Food Security Strategy 2051.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, delivered a keynote address, highlighting the 4,000-year agricultural heritage of the Al Ain region. She celebrated the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose visionary leadership established the foundations of the UAE’s advanced agricultural sector.
The event has drawn participation from 22 government entities, 40 private companies, four national universities, and 20 innovative agricultural start-ups. Over 1,000 students are also attending, benefiting from knowledge sharing and the extensive conference programme, which includes speeches, panel discussions, and specialized workshops.
The Emirates Agriculture Conference and Exhibition is a key milestone in the UAE’s efforts to transform its agricultural sector, enhance food security, and support sustainable development for future generations.
