UAE Qualify for Gold Fleet at Optimist World Championship in Morocco

Tangier, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates sailing team has qualified for the Gold Fleet at the Optimist World Championship in Tangier, Morocco, reinforcing its status among Asia’s leading sailing teams at the prestigious international competition.

The Gold Fleet comprises the top 60 sailors from a field of 293 competitors representing 73 countries. The UAE secured its place following a series of strong performances in the opening races, highlighting the continued progress of sailing in the country and the team’s growing competitiveness on the global stage.

With seven races still to be contested, the UAE team will seek to build on its encouraging start and improve its overall position in the championship standings.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, congratulated the team on reaching the Gold Fleet, describing the achievement as an important milestone in developing a new generation of talented sailors capable of competing successfully at major international championships.

He reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to supporting young athletes and strengthening the UAE’s presence in international sailing competitions through sustained investment in talent development and high-performance programmes.
