UAE Showcases Innovation at 9th BRICS Young Scientists Forum
Sochi, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) marked its inaugural participation in the 9th BRICS Young Scientists Forum and the 7th BRICS Young Innovator Prize, showcasing cutting-edge Emirati-led innovations and scientific contributions. This milestone event followed the UAE’s inclusion in BRICS earlier this year, reflecting its strategic vision to position itself as a global hub for technology and innovation.
Emirati Talent Shines on a Global Stage
The UAE delegation, led by Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), comprised 17 young Emirati scientists who presented 11 pioneering projects aligned with the Forum’s key themes:
- Environmental and Climate Technologies
- Nature-like and Convergent Technologies
- Digital Humanities
Highlights included autonomous drones for mangrove reforestation and advanced bioinformatics solutions to enhance immunotherapy. These projects underscored the UAE’s commitment to addressing critical global challenges through innovative, youth-driven approaches.
The delegation also competed for the BRICS Young Innovator Prize with transformative solutions such as IoT-enabled smart agriculture and sustainable biodiesel production, emphasizing the UAE’s focus on sustainable development and technology integration.
Strategic Collaboration and Leadership
Beyond individual projects, the UAE played a strategic role as a member of the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) BRICS Steering Committee, contributing to the program’s leadership. This role reflects the nation’s ambition to strengthen global partnerships and foster equitable access to innovation across the BRICS bloc and beyond.
The UAE’s participation is a testament to its alignment with its Centennial 2071 vision, which aims to establish a diversified, knowledge-based economy fueled by technological advancements and innovation.
Driving Global Innovation
The UAE’s involvement in the Forum and Prize demonstrated its belief in youth as catalysts for global progress. By equipping young innovators with resources, networks, and international platforms, the UAE is fostering an ecosystem that integrates Emirati ingenuity with global initiatives.
Participants from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa joined the UAE in exploring cross-border innovation and shared technological solutions. These collaborations are vital for addressing common challenges such as climate change, food security, and digital transformation.
A New Era of Technology-Led Prosperity
The UAE’s participation reinforced its vision that technology is the “new oil”—a resource essential for sustainable development and economic prosperity. By leveraging forums like BRICS to connect its youth with global talent, the UAE is accelerating its journey toward becoming a global leader in science, technology, and innovation.
This initiative not only strengthens partnerships within the BRICS community but also amplifies the UAE’s influence in shaping a future built on equitable and impactful technological progress.
