Singapore, The Gulf Observer: Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, has held talks with Singaporean leaders to explore ways to strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation, expand business partnerships and capitalise on emerging economic opportunities between the two countries.

Al Zeyoudi met Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry of Singapore, and Dr. Tan See Leng, Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry, in the presence of Dr. Abdulnasser Jamal Al Shaali, UAE Ambassador to Singapore.

The discussions covered a range of issues of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on expanding bilateral trade and investment, exchanging expertise to promote sustainable economic growth, and encouraging businesses and investors in both countries to translate investment opportunities into concrete projects.

Both sides underscored the importance of strengthening private-sector engagement in driving economic cooperation and creating new avenues for collaboration between their respective business communities.

Commenting on the meeting, Al Zeyoudi said the UAE-Singapore partnership continued to develop on strong foundations, particularly in trade and investment.

He emphasised that closer ties between business communities, stronger private-sector participation and the facilitation of trade and investment flows would unlock new opportunities for companies and investors in both countries.

The UAE, he added, remained committed to deepening cooperation with Singapore in priority sectors and developing more diversified and sustainable trade and investment relations in response to the evolving global economy.

During his visit, Al Zeyoudi also held a series of meetings with representatives of Singapore’s private sector, including investors, business leaders and senior officials from leading companies and economic institutions.

The meetings focused on expanding mutual investment, identifying new areas of partnership between the two countries’ business communities and exploring ways to maximise opportunities in both markets. The engagements also highlighted the private sector’s role in promoting economic growth and strengthening market integration.

Bilateral non-oil trade between the UAE and Singapore reached US$6.54 billion in 2025, compared with US$5.2 billion in 2024, representing a year-on-year increase of 25.3 per cent.

The UAE is Singapore’s largest trading partner in the Middle East, while UAE direct investment in Singapore totalled US$5.12 billion between 2021 and 2025.

Meanwhile, approximately 230 Singaporean companies have established operations in the UAE, with key areas of activity including real estate, hospitality and tourism, energy, telecommunications, transportation and warehousing.

The growing trade and investment figures underscore the expanding economic partnership between the UAE and Singapore and the potential for further cooperation across strategic sectors.
