UAE, Sweden Discuss Regional Security and Bilateral Cooperation Following Iranian Attacks

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, held talks with Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard in Abu Dhabi, focusing on regional security developments and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the repercussions of the recent Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting civilian sites and facilities in the UAE. They reviewed the serious implications of the attacks on regional and international peace and security, as well as their potential impact on international maritime navigation, energy supplies, and the global economy.

Maria Malmer Stenergard reaffirmed Sweden’s solidarity with the UAE and expressed support for all measures necessary to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, while ensuring the safety of its citizens, residents, and visitors.

Sheikh Abdullah expressed appreciation for the Swedish foreign minister’s visit, describing it as a reflection of the strong relations between the two countries and Sweden’s support for the UAE in the wake of the attacks.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of strengthening regional and international efforts aimed at promoting security, stability, and sustainable peace across the region and beyond.

In addition, the two ministers reviewed bilateral relations between the UAE and Sweden and explored opportunities to further enhance cooperation in various sectors in line with the mutual interests of both countries and the aspirations of their peoples for continued progress and prosperity.

Sheikh Abdullah underscored the strength of UAE-Sweden relations and the shared commitment of both nations to expanding cooperation across a range of key sectors. He noted that the two countries enjoy a longstanding friendship and an evolving partnership based on mutual respect and a common belief in the value of international cooperation to support stability and development.

He also reaffirmed the determination of both sides to explore new avenues of collaboration that contribute to shared prosperity and strengthen the growing partnership between the UAE and Sweden.
