Azerbaijan, Lithuania Hold Political Consultations in Vilnius

Vilnius, The Gulf Observer: The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Lithuania held another round of political consultations in Vilnius, reviewing bilateral relations and exploring opportunities to expand cooperation across a range of sectors.
The consultations were led by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Fariz Rzayev, and Lithuania’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Audra Plepytė.
During the talks, the two sides reviewed the current state of political relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania and underscored the importance of maintaining reciprocal visits and high-level contacts to further strengthen bilateral ties.
The discussions focused on prospects for enhancing cooperation in trade, economic, humanitarian, scientific and educational fields. The parties also assessed opportunities for collaboration within major energy and transport projects being implemented with Azerbaijan’s initiative and participation.
Both sides exchanged views on ongoing efforts to expand the legal framework governing bilateral cooperation and discussed the continuation of collaboration within international organizations, including mutual support for each other’s candidacies in international bodies.
Regional developments also featured prominently in the consultations. The parties exchanged views on the current situation in the South Caucasus, the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and progress in addressing the mine threat in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.
The meeting further covered a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
As part of his visit to Lithuania, Fariz Rzayev also held meetings with senior Lithuanian officials and participated in roundtable discussions organized by a research center, where regional developments and bilateral cooperation were discussed.
