Uzbekistan Claims 40 Medals at Asian Junior and Youth Wrestling Championships

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Uzbekistan’s national wrestling teams delivered an impressive performance at the recently concluded Asian Wrestling Championships for juniors and youth held in Vietnam, securing a total of 40 medals across various age categories and disciplines.

On the final day of the U-17 freestyle wrestling competitions, Uzbek athletes added to the medal tally by winning two silver and three bronze medals. Silver medals were awarded to Ulugbek Rashidov (51 kg) and Abdumalik Jaloliddinov (55 kg), while bronze medals went to Mirjalol Mukammilov (45 kg), Shahobiddin Nurmanov (48 kg), and Fakhriddin Nasriddinov (60 kg).

Over the course of the two-day U-17 freestyle wrestling event, Uzbekistan’s representatives won one gold, three silver, and five bronze medals, placing third in the overall team rankings.

In total, Uzbekistan’s U-17 team across Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women’s wrestling secured an outstanding 24 medals — comprising 5 gold, 7 silver, and 12 bronze.

Meanwhile, in the U-23 category, Uzbek wrestlers continued their strong showing by claiming two gold, five silver, and nine bronze medals in Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women’s wrestling events.

The remarkable medal haul underscores Uzbekistan’s growing strength and consistency in the sport of wrestling across both youth and junior divisions, further solidifying its position as a leading contender in Asian wrestling.
