Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính held a significant working session on March 15 with the Ministry of National Defence and other relevant ministries to review progress in high-tech defence industry research and production.

The session highlighted substantial achievements led by the General Department of Defence Industry and the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group, demonstrating remarkable progress in science and technology, innovation, and national defence. The successful execution of key tasks assigned by the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defence has significantly enhanced the country’s defence potential.

The Vietnamese army has made notable advancements in mastering system design, integration, and core technologies related to high-tech defence products. It has successfully produced and delivered several strategic items, not only bolstering military capabilities but also contributing to the nation’s socio-economic development.

Prime Minister Chính commended these breakthroughs, stating that domestically developed defence products have laid a solid foundation for a strong, independent, and modern defence industry with dual-use applications. He emphasized that the sector must evolve into a spearhead of the nation’s industrial framework, serving both national defence and socio-economic goals.

The Prime Minister called for continued collaboration among relevant ministries and the Ministry of National Defence to align defence industry growth with national development needs. He stressed the importance of integrating scientific research with practical applications, promoting workforce training, and expanding infrastructure to further enhance the country’s defence capabilities.

Furthermore, PM Chính urged the development of special policies to accelerate progress in line with the 13th-tenure Politburo’s Resolution No. 08-NQ/TW on advancing the defence industry by 2030 and beyond, as well as Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

The Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of mastering advanced technologies, improving workforce quality, and ensuring a more efficient production process to meet the nation’s new development period requirements. He concluded by reiterating that the modern defence industry must become a key pillar of the national industrial sector, supporting national construction, defence targets, and the well-being of the people.
