Vietnam Prioritizes Strengthening Economic Ties with the US: General Secretary Tô Lâm

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Party General Secretary Tô Lâm on Tuesday commended the US business community, particularly the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), for its substantial contributions to fostering Vietnam-US trade and investment cooperation.
During a reception in Hanoi for a USABC delegation led by President and CEO Ted Osius, former US Ambassador to Vietnam, General Secretary Lâm acknowledged their visit as a meaningful gesture, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-US diplomatic ties and the second year of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Lâm reaffirmed that Vietnam considers the US a strategically important partner, with economic, trade, investment, and science-technology collaboration serving as the foundation of their relationship. He expressed Vietnam’s commitment to further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, fostering stable economic ties that benefit both nations and their citizens while contributing to global and regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
He highlighted that the growth of Vietnam-US relations positively influences US-ASEAN ties and urged the USABC to continue supporting ASEAN’s unity, cooperation, and development. Lâm emphasized that the region presents a dynamic and promising market, ripe with opportunities for US enterprises.
As Vietnam prepares to celebrate the 100th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 2030 and the 100th anniversary of the country in 2045, Lâm noted that comprehensive reforms are underway. These include improving institutional frameworks, upgrading infrastructure, streamlining administrative processes, and enhancing operational efficiency to create a more favorable environment for foreign investors, including those from the US.
He also underscored the critical role of science and technology in Vietnam’s development, encouraging US enterprises to increase investments in emerging technologies, the digital economy, green transition, renewable energy, and logistics to align US strengths with Vietnam’s evolving needs.
Speaking on behalf of the US business community, Ted Osius and other corporate representatives reiterated their commitment to strengthening Vietnam-US relations. They praised the strategic vision of General Secretary Lâm and other leaders, expressing confidence that Vietnam’s forward-thinking approach would pave the way for long-term success and mutually beneficial cooperation.
