120-Year-Old Mosque in Ahmadli Municipality Recommissioned After Major Renovation
Baku, The Gulf Observer: The 120-year-old mosque in the Ahmadli Municipality, built in 1904, has been officially recommissioned following a comprehensive renovation initiative led by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, according to NHC reports.
The renovation efforts, which included both the mosque’s exterior and surrounding areas, were carried out in response to an appeal from local residents. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, known for its dedication to preserving cultural and religious heritage, promptly undertook the restoration and modernization works. President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, and Vice-President Leyla Aliyeva, along with family members, visited the mosque following the completion of the project.
The mosque’s facelift included significant restoration work on the building’s facade and surrounding areas, along with improvements to the worship spaces for both men and women. Additional facilities such as ablution rooms and a ceremonial house were also reconstructed, ensuring the mosque meets the needs of worshippers. Landscaping and greenery have been incorporated into the surrounding grounds, enhancing the mosque’s serene environment.
In addition to the mosque’s restoration, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation led landscaping and green area development on central streets of Ahmadli and at the settlement’s main entrance, all while preserving the original architectural style. A monument complex located in the settlement and the park surrounding it have also been revitalized as part of the broader development plan, maintaining the unique architectural integrity of Ahmadli.
The recommissioning of the Ahmadli mosque marks a significant cultural and religious milestone for the settlement, reflecting the ongoing commitment of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to the preservation of Azerbaijan’s historic landmarks.
