15 killed, nearly 140 injured in explosion in Bangladesh’s Dhaka

Dhaka, The Gulf Observer: At least 15 people were killed and nearly 140 were injured in an explosion at a multi-storied building in Dhaka’s Gulistan area in Bangladesh.

The incident took place at around 4 pm on Tuesday. 11 fire services emergency units are at the location and rescue operations are underway. Injured people have been rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The building, located in the busy Siddique Bazaar, was a commercial building with several offices and stores.

According to the fire service, there was a sanitary shop on the ground floor of the building. The explosion hit the ground floor and several upper floors were damaged. Eleven fire trucks are still conducting rescue work at the scene.

The cause of the blast has not been specified yet.
