Doha Draws Thousands for Ismail Haniyeh’s Funeral
Doha, The Gulf Observer: Qatari authorities have enacted rigorous security protocols to ensure the safety of the funeral proceedings for Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, who was assassinated in Tehran, Iran’s capital.
Throughout the night, Hamad International Airport in Doha saw long queues as individuals gathered to attend the funeral. The ceremony is expected to attract officials from numerous countries.
In preparation, several main and side streets in Doha have been closed to traffic. Police have enforced strict security measures, particularly around the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque, where the funeral prayer is scheduled to take place following Friday prayers, as reported by an Anadolu correspondent.
The vicinity of the mosque has also witnessed a significant presence of journalists from both local and international media outlets, who are there to cover the event.
