Former Indonesian VP Attends Funeral of Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh in Qatar

Doha, The Gulf Observer: Former Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla attended the funeral of Ismail Haniyeh, a prominent leader of the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, in Doha, Qatar, on Friday.

In a video shared by his special staff, Kalla was seen standing beside Haniyeh’s grave, reciting prayers. He noted that the hundreds of thousands of people who attended the funeral appeared deeply emotional, participating in Friday prayers followed by the funeral prayers.

Kalla remarked on the significant international presence at the funeral, with high-ranking officials from several countries, including Iran, Turkey, Malaysia, and Oman, attending the service. “All were present, and this signifies our support for Palestine,” he said.

Haniyeh was killed along with his aide in a missile attack targeting his residence during a stay in Tehran, Iran, on Wednesday. Kalla had previously met with Haniyeh in Doha to offer humanitarian assistance for Gaza.
