Chinese Premier Meets with Vietnamese President To Lam to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and Vietnamese President To Lam on Monday, who is on a state visit to China. The meeting underscored the deep and strategic relationship between the two neighboring countries, with both leaders emphasizing their commitment to enhancing cooperation across various sectors.
Premier Li highlighted that China regards Vietnam as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and is keen to build upon the long-standing friendship between the two nations. He expressed China’s readiness to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, with the goals of increasing political mutual trust, bolstering security cooperation, advancing practical collaboration, strengthening public support, enhancing multilateral coordination, and effectively managing and resolving differences.
“China and Vietnam are economically interconnected, with high industry complementarity and broad opportunities for cooperation,” Li noted. He emphasized China’s willingness to accelerate the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and Vietnam’s Two Corridors and One Economic Circle strategy. This collaboration aims to enhance connectivity, expand trade and investment, and strengthen partnerships in key areas such as agriculture, infrastructure, energy, the digital economy, green development, and key minerals.
Looking ahead to next year, the two countries will host a series of events celebrating the 75th anniversary of bilateral ties. Li stressed the importance of deepening people-to-people exchanges in culture, tourism, education, and health to foster greater understanding and friendship between the Chinese and Vietnamese peoples.
The Chinese Premier also called for increased coordination under multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations, ASEAN, and the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation. He advocated for joint efforts to promote a multipolar world, equitable and orderly global governance, and economic globalization that benefits all, aiming to contribute to regional and global peace and development.
Vietnamese President To Lam reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to its strategic relationship with China, emphasizing that it remains a top priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy. He reiterated Vietnam’s adherence to the one-China principle and expressed his country’s willingness to work closely with China to strengthen exchanges at all levels. To Lam highlighted the importance of consolidating political mutual trust and deepening cooperation in trade, investment, transportation, tourism, and education.
Both leaders agreed on the importance of building a Vietnam-China community with a shared future, which carries significant strategic implications for both nations.
