Oman Backs UN Resolution on Israeli Policies in Palestinian Territories

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman has expressed its strong support for the recent adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of a draft resolution concerning the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The resolution addresses the legal consequences of Israeli policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, Oman described the resolution as a “pivotal step” in affirming the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. The ministry underscored that the decision upholds the Palestinian right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

“The Sultanate of Oman considers this decision a crucial move towards realizing the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people,” the statement read, calling on the international community to respect international law and enforce relevant UN resolutions.

Oman further emphasized the importance of collective efforts to bring an end to the Israeli occupation and to secure a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, in line with international law and the principles of justice.
