Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Specialists from the Biotechnology Department at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan have achieved a breakthrough by patenting a technology to produce camel thorn extract through microencapsulation, as reported by Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

Camel thorn (Alhagi persarum), a plant known for its medicinal properties, is rich in flavonoids, saponins, sugars, tannins, vitamins C, K, and B, as well as carotene, ursolic acid, essential oils, and resins. This unique blend of bioactive compounds offers therapeutic benefits, especially in treating respiratory conditions like colds, flu, sore throat, and bronchitis.

The patented process involves grinding the camel thorn plant to extract its beneficial components using a specialized mixture. Through microencapsulation, these active compounds are enclosed in microscopic capsules, which safeguard the physical and chemical properties, enhancing the stability and effectiveness of the extract.

This innovative extract is anticipated to have applications in both medicinal products and the food industry. Its therapeutic and preventive properties, coupled with a low production cost, mark a significant advancement in plant-based pharmaceuticals and functional food products.
