Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe Presidents Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation
Baku, The Gulf Observer: On November 10, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan met with Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the President of Zimbabwe, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and explore opportunities for cooperation across various sectors.
During the meeting, President Aliyev expressed his appreciation to President Mnangagwa for attending the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). He emphasized the importance of the visit to Azerbaijan, noting that it provided an excellent platform to further enhance bilateral ties between the two nations.
In his remarks, President Aliyev highlighted the potential for robust cooperation between Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe, particularly in areas such as agriculture, education, and renewable energy. He also underscored the significance of political consultations between the two countries and the role of economic collaboration in driving mutual development.
President Mnangagwa, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and congratulated President Aliyev on his recent presidential election victory, describing it as a clear testament to the trust and support of the Azerbaijani people.
The leaders also discussed the importance of collaboration within international organizations, including the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement, and acknowledged the shared challenges that developing countries face, particularly in relation to climate change. The discussion included potential cooperation on renewable energy projects, which both leaders identified as a key area for future collaboration.
Both Presidents agreed on the need to establish a working group to advance cooperation in agriculture, education, and other sectors, and they emphasized the importance of reciprocal visits of delegations to further cement the partnership between Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe.
The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening the ties between the two countries and setting the stage for further collaboration in the coming years.
