Kazakhstan and Türkiye Strengthen Strategic Partnership with Expanded Trade and Cooperation Goals

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reaffirmed their nations’ robust partnership during a recent meeting, discussing the advancement of strategic cooperation across multiple sectors, Akorda reports. Highlighting the strength of their 30-year friendship, the leaders emphasized their commitment to fostering economic, political, and cultural ties.

Kazakhstan and Türkiye have maintained a steadily growing relationship, with Türkiye consistently ranking among Kazakhstan’s top five trade partners. President Tokayev noted that trade turnover between the two countries reached $6 billion last year, underscoring Türkiye’s significant role in Kazakhstan’s economy. “Our nations enjoy dynamically developing brotherly relations and a constructive political dialogue,” Tokayev stated, adding that Turkish investments in Kazakhstan are closely monitored under his administration’s direct oversight.

In response, President Erdoğan highlighted the importance of the Kazakh-Turkish relationship, emphasizing its strategic nature and significant potential for further economic growth. He noted that Turkish enterprises have a successful presence in various sectors of the Kazakh economy and expressed Turkey’s readiness to assist in sectors including agriculture, nuclear energy, and oil and gas transport. Erdoğan further commented on Türkiye’s readiness to increase bilateral trade to $15 billion, citing the upcoming 5th meeting of the Kazakhstan-Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, scheduled for next year in Ankara, as an opportunity to solidify new agreements in agriculture, defense, energy, transport, and cultural exchange.

The two leaders also engaged in a dialogue on regional and international issues, pledging mutual support within multilateral organizations to advance shared objectives.
