Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi

Nyeri, The Gulf Observer: Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has commended the people of Nyeri County for their overwhelming turnout to welcome President William Ruto during his visit on Tuesday.

In a statement following the visit, Sudi, who accompanied the President alongside Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and other leaders, expressed his admiration for the unity and determination displayed by Nyeri residents.

“I am deeply moved by the huge turnout and determination shown by the people of Nyeri. You’ve risen above narrow divisions, focusing on hard work and progress. While others spread chaos and tribal talk, you’ve chosen unity, coming together to move forward. Asante sana, Nyeri,” Sudi stated.

The Kapseret MP lauded Nyeri residents for prioritizing development over political divisions, particularly in the home county of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. He noted that their choice to embrace progress signaled a new era of unity and cooperation.

Sudi’s remarks come amid his ongoing political rivalry with Gachagua, with whom he has frequently clashed in public and online debates.

President Ruto’s Development Tour of Mt Kenya

President Ruto’s visit to Nyeri marked the beginning of his week-long development tour of the Mt Kenya region. Concerns had been raised about how he would be received in the region, but the large crowds in Nyeri demonstrated strong support.

The tour commenced in Laikipia County, where the President launched and commissioned several development projects. In Nyeri, he visited Narumoru, where he addressed a massive gathering of residents.

Among the key projects commissioned in Nyeri was the Last Mile Connectivity Programme, valued at Sh850 million, which aims to connect 10,000 households to electricity. President Ruto also announced an additional Sh550 million to ensure full electrification across the county.

Additionally, the President inaugurated a one-storey, 12-classroom tuition block at Narumoru Township Primary School and inspected the ongoing construction of Narumoru Market, which is set for completion within a month.

During his tour of the Mt Kenya region, President Ruto will be operating from Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri, engaging with local leaders and overseeing further development initiatives.
