Romania's Emil Hurezeanu Pays Tribute to Romanians Worldwide on Day of Romanians Everywhere

Bucharest, The Gulf Observer: On the occasion of the Day of Romanians Everywhere, Minister of Foreign Affairs Emil Hurezeanu issued a heartfelt message honoring the millions of Romanians living beyond the country’s borders. The day stands as a symbolic moment to celebrate both the historical Romanian communities near the country’s frontiers and the dynamic Romanian diaspora spread across the globe.

“This day reminds us of the fundamental values we believe in and that unite us – our shared linguistic, spiritual, and cultural heritage,” said Minister Hurezeanu. He acknowledged the sacrifices of those who have fought for freedom, prosperity, and the development of Romanian society.

The Minister reflected on the historical and often challenging circumstances that have separated Romanians from one another, but also highlighted the growing strength and cohesion of the diaspora. “We appreciate the strengthening of a national diaspora that is in historic expansion in many parts of the world. It finds its voice in the societies where it lives while remaining engaged in the life and development of Romania.”

Minister Hurezeanu emphasized that modern technology and global connectivity have brought the diaspora closer than ever to their homeland. “Never has the diaspora, wherever they are, been closer to the country,” he stated, noting that Romanians abroad contribute meaningfully to Romania’s international image and national progress, particularly in light of Romania’s integration into the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union.

He reaffirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ commitment to supporting Romanian citizens abroad through diplomatic missions and consular offices, which continue to provide essential services, protection, and assistance, while also promoting Romania’s cultural and historical identity.

“In a global context marked by security challenges and instability, we are stronger together, united in our shared vision for a better future,” the Minister concluded.

“Happy Day of Romanians Everywhere to all Romanians, wherever they may be!”
