Israel Continues Airstrikes on Residential Areas in Tehran, Civilian Casualties Reported

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly condemned a series of unprovoked Israeli airstrikes that targeted residential neighborhoods in Tehran overnight on June 13, resulting in civilian deaths and injuries.

According to official sources, while the majority of the attacks were intercepted by Iranian air defense systems, several densely populated areas in the capital sustained direct hits. Though the full casualty toll has yet to be released, initial reports and images from the affected sites confirm the presence of women and children among the wounded, with fatalities also reported.

The strikes, described by Iranian authorities as acts of unprovoked aggression, caused widespread damage to homes and civilian infrastructure, with entire population centers impacted. In one of the attacks, top Iranian military officials were assassinated in what officials labeled as deliberate and targeted strikes.

In response, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei swiftly appointed new military commanders and vowed severe consequences for Israel. “Life will turn bleak for the Zionist regime,” he stated, indicating a shift in Iran’s strategic posture.

Shortly after the leadership’s statement, Iran launched a series of punitive strikes deep into Israeli territory, targeting key cities including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa. The Iranian government has declared that the retaliatory mission will persist “as long as necessary” to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its citizens.

The escalation marks one of the most severe flare-ups in recent years and has drawn international concern over the risk of broader regional destabilization.
