Azerbaijani and Russian Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Security and Bilateral Cooperation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on June 18 to discuss pressing regional developments and ongoing bilateral cooperation.

The ministers exchanged views on the current regional security situation, with particular focus on the growing tensions stemming from the Israel-Iran escalation. Both sides expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation and underlined the urgent need for diplomatic efforts to prevent further destabilization.

Foreign Minister Lavrov conveyed his appreciation to the Azerbaijani government and relevant institutions for their assistance in facilitating the safe evacuation of Russian citizens, including cultural representatives, from Iran amid rising tensions.

In addition to regional matters, the conversation addressed issues related to Azerbaijan-Russia cooperation and broader regional engagement, with the ministers reaffirming their commitment to enhancing dialogue and collaboration across various domains.

The two top diplomats also touched upon other topics of mutual interest, underscoring the value of continued communication and coordination in promoting regional stability and advancing shared goals.
